Valentines Interview: Jessica Gunn author of the Atlas Linked Series

Mini Valentines Interview: Jessica Gunn

1.) Can you tell us a little bit about the Atlas Link Series?  What genre is it and what makes it unique?

Thank you for having me, Pat! :)

The Atlas Link Series is a new adult sci-fi/fantasy. The first book, Gyre, is about what happens when a Navy engineering prodigy and a fledgling archaeologist accidentally uncover evidence of Atlantis, and place not only a classified Navy vessel but the entire world in the crosshairs of an ancient time-travel war between Atlantis and Lemuria.

What makes it unique for me is that while it’s a new adult story in a different sci-fi/fantasy kind of near-future setting, there are a lot of very recognizable things in it. But I also got to play with ancient history and time travel and powers, so I thought it was fun! :) There’s a little bit of everything in these books.

2) In the spirit of Valentine's day, tell me about the romance in the books! What is the relationship between the two characters like?

Chelsea and Trevor’s relationship is sweet in the first book, but it’s weighed down by what their respective heritages are, her newfound powers, and his secrets. There’s a lot going on, and the first book’s events are just the tip of the iceberg. But they’re both so fiercely loyal, not only to each other but to SeaSatellite5 and making the world right, that they’ll fight through anything for each other, regardless of where their relationship stands. I think that loyalty is what makes their romance intense, even when it’s sweet :)

 3) What would be the ideal Valentine's Day date for the couple in your book?

Oh gosh! Well, I actually had this perfect date scene in the original version of Gyre, but it got cut during edits! Chelsea took Trevor to the arcade her best friend’s father owns, and they played arcade cabinets for hours. They’re both gamers, Trevor more so, and it was the cutest scene of them both just genuinely being themselves, like the rest of the world and all the crazy happening in it didn’t matter. So: an arcade to themselves with drinks and loud music.
