Page proofs, and a peek behind the scenes

Look what arrived on my doorstep today: page proofs for A Hold on Me!

I’m so excited. This is the stage where I get to see A Hold on Me typeset for the first time. Other than size and lack of cover, these pages look the same as they will in the finished novel, including the fonts, little flourishes for chapter headings, the title page, and other details such as the ciphers used to represent a mystical language that appears here and there throughout the novel.

This is also the last time the publisher’s proofreader and I will read through the novel. While we look for typos and other issues, the uncorrected proof ARCs (Advanced Reading Copies) will be sent out for reviews. Obviously ARCs aren’t perfect, but the novel has been copyedited and gone through several rounds of revision over the last year. It’s been quite a journey and this stage is particularly awesome.

Review: ON THE HUNT (anthology) by Alexandra Ivy, Rebecca, Zanetti, Dianne Duvall, Hannah Jayne

Review:  ON THE HUNT (anthology) by Alexandra Ivy, Rebecca, Zanetti, Dianne Duvall, Hannah Jayne

I really enjoyed this collection of paranormal novellas. They were all the perfect length for a relaxing weekend or evening read, yet long enough that they had depth and sucked me into their stories’ characters and worlds.  Though all the stories are for the most part urban fantasies, they each were unique and memorable.

I fell in love with the characters, action and the sexiness of Alexandra Ivy’s ON THE HUNT.  Rebbecca Zanetti’s dystopian story, SCORPIUS, kept me on the edge of my seat and left me dying to read the series. PHANTOM EMBRACE by Dianne Duvall was a haunting, bittersweet read with a healthy dose of sexiness. I love romances involving ghosts, and this one really touched me. I didn’t expect to like the last novella, STAKE OUT by Hannah Jayne, because I’m not usually a fan of sassy main characters or humor. But I absolutely adored it. The story was fast paced, the main character was a riot, and the other characters were fun and distinctive as well.

I’ll be searching out more books from all these authors in the future.
